About The Award:
The Oregon Educational Media Association (OEMA) has sponsored a new award program for young readers. The Beverly Cleary Children’s Choice Award (named for the beloved Oregon author with her permission) seeks to promote quality literature for the young reader. Books are nominated by children, teachers and parents for consideration. A committee then selects the final nominees. Then children across Oregon read (or are read to) the nominated books. In the spring of 2005, children will vote for their favorite book during library class. The ballots will be counted and the winner announced!
